Women of Appalachia have a herstory of gathering together to craft creations that were both beautiful and functional. These gatherings were opportunities to be in community, to learn new skills and to share food. Shakti is continuing this tradition with our monthly Stitching for Peace and Love.
You are invited to join us on October 21 at 4 pm as we gather to learn how to crochet mug cozies for your favorite warm beverage. We have plenty of yarn to share and some hooks for borrow.
In addition to handcrafting, we also will make Stone Soup. Each person who comes is invited to bring a vegetable to put in the soup. The soup will simmer on the stove, ready to be eaten after we craft.
There is no fee to attend; however, if you would like to bring non-perishable food donations for the Little Free Pantry, we would be most grateful.
Bring your needles and your hooks and come stitch with some awesome people!
New folks and beginners are always welcomed. We always have a few extra supplies so don’t let that stop you.
Feel free to use the books on hand at Shakti or go to this link to get new stitch ideas. As always, there will be folks on hand to support your learning.
If you don’t have a project in mind, we also invite folks to make scarves and hats for the Little Food Pantry.
Free Community Event. Love donations are greatly appreciated but not required. What is most important is being in community. Co-ed. Everyone Welcome.
