A Deep Dive: Shakti in the Mountains’ Book Study @ Shakti in the Mountains
Nov 22 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Some books are meant to be savored and discussed among a circle of friends to maximize their impact and to stimulate new understanding and growth.

Every season (with the exception of summer), Shakti in the Mountains promises to do just that: creating a circle where new ideas are encouraged and personal journeys are supported.

To kick off our book study this fall, we turn to Mirabai Starr’s book “Wild Mercy: Living the Fierce and Tender Wisdom of the Women Mystics.” This phenomenal read, as one reviewer so eloquently summarized, “reminds us that women need no spiritual authority to connect us to our natural wisdom stream, no special permission to embrace the fullness of our humanity with the fullness of our divinity.” ~ Vera de Chalambert

Doesn’t that sound delicious?

If you think so, then please join us on October 18 for our first gathering. Over the course of the season, we will meet a total of 6 times. Each time we meet a different section of the book will be studied and discussed. (See the itinerary below.) Participants are responsible for their own copy of the book.

The study will begin at 11 am and last approximately an hour. You are invited to bring your lunch and stay after the discussion to socialize.

Women only. No registration needed. Drop-in as your schedule allows. Donations of $5 per meeting are encouraged.

Wild Mercy Itinerary:
10/18: Introduction + Chapters 1 & 2
10/25: Chapters 3 & 4
11/8: Chapters 5 & 6
11/22: Chapters 7 & 8
12/6: Chapters 9 & 10
12/20: Chapters 11 & 12

Feel free to email with any questions.

A Support Group for Empaths @ Shakti in the Mountains
Dec 2 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
A Support Group for Empaths @ Shakti in the Mountains | Johnson City | Tennessee | United States

An empath or highly sensitive person is someone who can sense other people’s emotions, energies, and physical symptoms in their bodies. Empaths can frequently feel overwhelmed by others’ energies and emotions. They also can absorb others’ emotions, especially in crowds or around more challenging people (energy vampires).

You may relate if you have been called “too sensitive” and have trouble with loud noises, strong scents, or violent media. You may feel the need to be alone to recharge and you easily connect to nature and animals. You may find that you frequently give more of yourself to others than really is good for you. If this describes you, and you would like to connect with others who feel this way, we invite you to join the Empath Support Group.

We will discuss our experiences with these special gifts along with learning and practicing meditations, and other techniques, to reduce the overwhelm and the absorption of others’ emotions. Learn how to enjoy and to thrive as an empath as well as meet people who understand.

SCHEDULE
For our first group, we will meet Sept. 30th, after that, this group will meet on the first Monday of every month.

REGISTRATION
This group is open to anyone, at no cost to attend, though donations to the Little Free Pantry are encouraged. Please DO register HERE so we have a heartcount.

MEET YOUR GUIDE
Melony Ison describes herself as an intuitive empath, who in the past few years, just discovered that what she has felt her whole life, has a name: empath. She wants to help others (of course) to learn how to enjoy the gifts instead of being overwhelmed by them.

Red Tent Healing Circle @ Shakti in the Mountains
Dec 4 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am

Your lantern is lit and your journey into the woods begins. As you walk deeper into the night, you see glowing lights, hear laughter and drumming, and feel an energy pulling you closer and closer. There is a sense of homecoming. You have made your way to the Red Tent.

Long ago, women had a place to go. A place to be with other women, to share wisdom, to heal, and ultimately, to empower one another. This space was sacred. This space was the Red Tent.

In honor of this ancient tradition, Shakti in the Mountains is offering a new service called, the Red Tent Healing Circle. Our goal is to create a sacred place where you are welcomed, encouraged and held while you share your story, speak your truth and honor your path.

During the Red Tent Healing Circle, you will experience ritual, have opportunities to create, and be encouraged to listen to your intuition. This circle is confidential and is for women who are able to give and to receive compassion, understanding and empathy.

In respect for this journey, we ask that no one walk in late. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes early to give yourself time to settle into the space.

Cost is $10 per circle.
Circles are held the first Wednesday and third Sunday of December, January, February, and March.
Registration is needed. Register at http://bit.ly/F19RedTentHC

This circle is co-facilitated by Jennifer Hill and Kim Bushore-Maki.

Jennifer Hill

Jennifer Hill is a New Jersey transplant who loves to cook, who attempts to keep houseplants alive, and who has a love of farm animals, especially cows and goats. She also has a fondness of crystals that goes back to childhood. Check out her crystal page at Mountain Moon Crystals.

Easing discomfort and pain and finding a new relationship with their body are just some of the benefits the women have experienced from this Restorative Yoga class.

Our bodies are miraculous, and when they are good in working condition, we can do all sorts of marvelous things.

But sometimes our bodies challenge us: give us projects to work on in the form of dis-ease and pain. These challenges often make us feel irritable, sad, scared and lonely.

Restorative Yoga is designed to help you find a way out of this quagmire and create a different relationship with your body.

In this class, you will learn:

  • yoga poses that best support you
  • the qualities of the 7 major chakras and how to use those energies to heal
  • to connect with your wise self and listen to the wisdom of your body

Class is on Mondays. See event calendar for more details.
This class is for women only. Limit 12.

$15 Drop-In or $40/month for a monthly Yoga Pass. To purchase your Yoga Pass click here or the purple tickets button.

Red Tent Healing Circle @ Shakti in the Mountains
Jan 19 @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Jennifer has a passion for painting and loves to watch the canvas come to life. She also enjoys holding space with like-minded people and working with others for a better tomorrow.

Kim Bushore Maki, the founder of Shakti in the Mountains, is supporting and building a healthy, vibrant community. She guides retreats, teaches yoga, and provides one-on-one services for women who want an immersion experience into the life-affirming, Shakti energy. Kim’s training as a therapist and yoga teacher allows her to safely and compassionately guide women on a heart-centered journey to Self, where women re-connect with their beautiful, authentic spirit.

Limit 12.

Red Tent Healing Circle @ Shakti in the Mountains
Mar 15 @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm
