Introductory Belly Dance Workshop @ Shakti in the Mountains
Jan 26 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Belly dance has its roots in folk dances of the Middle East and North Africa where it is traditionally danced when women gather together. This art form offers numerous benefits for body, mind, and spirit.

Belly dance is beautiful when performed by dancers of all ages and body types and is wonderful for promoting body-positivity and confidence. The dance offers an outlet for expression, healing, and community building, as well as enjoyable physical exercise, stress relief, and mood-boosting. It can also be utilized in a spiritual context to connect with feminine energy.

This introductory level workshop will include a breakdown of fundamental movements, which will then be combined into a short dance sequence. No previous experience is required. Comfortable workout attire is recommended. A scarf for the hips is also encouraged and a limited number will be available to borrow.

This workshop is limited to 15 women. Pre-registration is required. Click tickets to register. Investment $28.

MEET YOUR TEACHER:
A life-long dancer, Devorah fell in love with belly dance at age fifteen and has been obsessed ever since. She has now been studying the art form for over eight years and continues to learn everything she can about it. Her studies have included training with local and regional teachers and workshops by national and internationally known professional dancers.

Devorah has performed both locally and regionally at dance showcases, festivals, fundraisers, restaurants, and parties. Highlights include “Raqs Layali” in Asheville, NC, under the direction of Mahsati Janan, and Bloom in Charlotte, NC, hosted by Satarah Performance Arts.

Devorah feels her best when sharing her energy with an audience through performance. She is also interested in promoting healing and empowerment through movement.
