“…if you are faced with a problem that seems insurmountable, you first have to grow to a new level before you can find a solution to it.” (Shakti Leadership, p.49)
I have a bumper sticker in my home office which says, “Oh no – not another learning experience!” I placed this sticker right above my desk to help me find the humor in the midst of challenges. I need the reminder, because I have a tendency to view certain challenges as a personal affront.
You may be familiar with the why-me refrain. I am. The why-me refrain reflects the desire to be exempt from certain challenges and implies that we have had enough of those challenges, thank you very much.
I’ve noticed that I especially employ the why-me refrain after reaching a temporary equilibrium. Just when it seems that I have created a healthy balance in my life. Boom! Here comes another challenge, I mean, learning experience.
It helps to remember that organisms which remain static die. In other words, the health of any living entity is determined by their ability to adapt and to grow. Life is constantly evolving. Nothing remains the same. Our choice is to be conscious or unconscious about our evolution.
Consciousness does not mean we have clarity.
Consciousness means we choose to be present to what is happening at any given moment. Sometimes the present moment is confusing, scary, frustrating, or enraging. Other times the present moment is joyful, peaceful, or exciting. Being with what shows up is how we learn and guides our next step.
I wish I could tell you that you will reach a point where you no longer have to be challenged and remain alive. I can’t. To no longer experience challenges would mean you are dead. What I can share is you are not alone. We are all in a state of flux. Find the people you want to be in flux with. Support them and let them support you. That is where you find sweetness.
Come find some sweetness this week at Shakti. In addition to Makerspace Open Hours, Jenn and I have planned a beautiful Witch’s Rebirth for Sunday. We need a few more participants to make it work. If you could register by Friday at noon, that would help us make a decision.
Lots of love,
