Summer Gardening- Let’s Play in the Dirt!

Join us for a fun morning of interactive story. Light snack will be provided and the children will have the chance to participate in a story-themed craft.

The purpose of this program is to share quality stories, both non-fiction and fiction tales that will be centered on strong female characters. The program will highlight the strength, value, and wisdom of the feminine spirit in each person. These stories will serve to empower and enlighten young girls as well as to help young boys better understand and appreciate the girls and women in their lives.

The stories are meant to reinforce the truth – that girls and women are strong, capable, courageous, wise, and smart enough in their own right to meet any challenges they may face. The storytelling sessions will have the added advantage of reinforcing early literacy skills as well as increasing acquired knowledge for each child. But most importantly, they will demonstrate that tales with strong females at their center are just as interesting, exciting, and important as are tales of their male counterparts.

We are pleased to invite all who are interested to come and enjoy the wonder of stories shared – Our Stories.

FREE, however, space is limited to 8 children and a $5 Love Donation is suggested.
You will need to register to secure your spot.

More about your teacher:

Sally Jackson’s love for story and the storytelling experience developed early in her life as both her parents shared many wonderful tales with her. From her father’s tales of imaginary friends, the Smorkelsmitchells, to her mother’s engaging folktale characters and adventures, Sally developed a love for stories and the storytelling experience. As an adult, she has been fortunate to have been able to share stories both with her own children and to have also worked with children as a storyteller in schools and libraries in Indiana, Texas, Florida, and Tennessee. Believing that stories have the power to touch a bit of the child in all people, she has also enjoyed sharing tales with older students and adults. She is a co-founder of The Story*Book Fair, an organization promoting multigenerational literacy experiences for the Northeast Tennessee community.
