I just finished finalizing the schedule for the Shakti spring calendar and am happy to report that we have a well-balanced lineup. All of our facilitators are familiar faces who spend a lot of time honing their craft and preparing intentional activities for our community. I look forward to sharing the new schedule with you later this month.

In addition to a new schedule, there will be more special topics occurring during Makerspace Open Hours. While there is always the option of using arts and crafts materials in the space (or bringing your own), you also have the option of engaging in a curated activity.

Because this Friday, March 8, is International Women’s Day, Shakti is hosting a Tea during Makerspace Open Hours (2 to 5 pm). You are invited to drop in, have a spot of tea, and, if you wish, share a story about a woman who has inspired, educated, or loved you. Next Tuesday, March 12, during Makerspace Open Hours (3:30 to 6:30 pm), the special topic is Puzzles and Game Night. Bring a friend and come play with us. Both events will include food. If you want to bring a snack to share or make something in the Shakti Kitchen, then please do. We love to eat!

Village Conversations

We enjoyed a delicious salad bar during our March gathering of Village Conversations. We got clear and defined our purpose. I look forward to our upcoming conversations this spring. Thank you Davis Shoulders for all your guidance and support as a co-facilitator. Wishing you much success as you complete your book.

Thank you Joanne

Thank you Joanne for the delicious soup and slow fashion lesson during last week’s Makerspace!

Collaging cards

Collaging cards and embroidering clothes are just some of the activities that happened last week during Makerspace.

Beautiful Selfie

Come take a selfie the next time you are at Shakti. Thank you to whoever left the “You are beautiful” note on the bathroom mirror!

One other change that I am looking forward to this spring is the revamping of the Shakti Badge Program. I just met with the Shakti Badge Team who decided to tweak the current badge criteria to make earning badges easier. We also will coordinate the special topics hosted during Makerspace Open Hours with badge criteria. In other words you could be well on your way to earning a badge simply by showing up and participating in a curated activity during Makerspace.

Keep in mind that as the weather warms and we have more light in the sky, I plan on working in the Shakti Garden during Makerspace Open Hours. If you would like to play in the dirt and learn more about how to grow and how to use what is grown, then please join me outside. I find that the time I spend interacting with the nonhuman world enhances the quality of my life and strengthens my connection to Nature.

Today, March 6, is a special day for our family. Our youngest child turns 18!! I am so incredibly lucky to call this young man my son. I love you Liam!

Wishing everyone a beautiful week!

Love,
